Technical Recommendations for The Benefit Bank Online Service

Please note that difficulty using The Benefit Bank may result if the technical recommendations and settings outlined below are not adhered to.
Required for filing taxes, applying for student aid and all other benefits through The Benefit Bank:

  • Desktop or Laptop Computer
    PC running Windows 7, Vista, or XP
    A Macintosh running OS X Lion
  • Internet Access
  • Internet Browser with JavaScript and cookies enabled
    Preferred Browsers
    Mozilla Firefox
    Google Chrome
    Internet Explorer- A request to update to the most current version will be displayed while accessing the service to those using outdated versions of Internet Explorer (6.0 or below).
    Safari
  • Adobe Flash Player - Necessary for accessing counselor training materials and updates
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
    Settings for Adobe Acrobat/Reader 7.0 and earlier
    versions:
    1. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader
    2. Click on the drop-down menu 'Edit', and select 'Preferences'
    3. In the new window, click on 'Forms' in the left-side menu
    4. Confirm that ‘Keep form data temporarily available on disk’ is NOT CHECKED,if it is checked, uncheck it
    5. Click OK

    This setting has been disabled by default in Adobe Acrobat/Reader 8.0 and later.
